Conception (Ren) Vessel

Regional Anatomy:
Skin-subcutaneous tissue-linea alba-transverse fascia-extraperitoneal fat tissue-parietal peritoneum.
In the superficial layer, there are the anterior cutaneous branches of the anterior branch of the 11th thoracic nerve and the perumbilical venous network. In the deep layer, there are the branches of the anterior branch of the 11th thoracic nerve.


Location:
Lie supinely; at the midpoint of the line connecting umbilicus and GuanyuanCV4(Guanyuan (CV4) Front-Mu Point of the SmallIntestine).
Function:
Regulating the flow of qi, tonifying the kidney and controlling emission.


Indications:
Abdominal pain, enuresis, nocturnal emission, impotence, hernia, edema, Diarrhea, dysentery, uterine bleeding, irregular menstruation, dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, leukorrhagia, postpartum hemorrhage, constipation, flaccid type of apoplexy, and asthma.


Prescription:
Combined use with ZusanliST36 (Zusanli (ST36) He-Sea Point) for treatment of gastroptosis; with YinlingquanSP9 (Yinlingquan (SP9) He-Sea Point) for treatment of pelvic inflammation; with TianshuST25 (Tianshu (ST25) Front-Mu Point of the Large Intestine), and ShangjuxuST37 (Shangjuxu (ST37) The Lower He-Sea Point of the Large Intestine) for treatment of acute dysentery; with XuehaiSP10 (Xuehai (SP10)), YinlingquanSP9 (SP9), SanyinjiaoSP6 (Sanyinjiao (SP6)), TaixiKI3 (Taixi(KI3) Shu-Stream, Yuan-Source Point), and ZhaohaiKI6 (Zhaohai (KI6) The Eihgt Confluent Point) for treatment of acute prostatitis; with GuanyuanCV4 (CV4), YinlingquanSP9 (SP9), DadunLR1 (Dadun (LR1) Jing-Well Point), XingjianLR2 (Xingjian (LR2) Ying-Spring Point) for treatment of enuresis.


Methods:
Insert the needle perpendicularly to 0.5-1 cun depth; needling response: local numbness and distention, radiating downward; moxibustion: using 5-14 moxa-cones, or mild moxibustion for 15 min.
Note:
The organs involved include the loop of small intestine in the abdominal cavity.
